How fast can a crew get here?

What happens first?
Securing the building. Board-up, tarping and a temporary weather seal come before any cleaning, so the structure is not taking on more damage while the claim gets moving.
Why is there water damage after a fire?
Suppression water saturates floors, walls and ceilings, and it keeps working long after the fire is out. We treat it as a water loss running alongside the fire damage, with extraction and structural drying on the same schedule.
How is smoke odor actually removed?
At the source. Affected materials come out, surfaces are cleaned according to soot type, and only then do thermal or hydroxyl treatment and sealing finish the job. Sprays, candles and ozone alone do not hold, because the source is still in the building.
Can contents be saved?
Many can. Salvageable contents are inventoried, packed out and cleaned off site while the structure is restored, which also keeps them out of the demolition dust.
What does insurance usually cover?
Fire loss is one of the most clearly covered perils there is, typically including suppression water, smoke damage and reasonable emergency mitigation. We document and scope it for your adjuster.

Is it safe to go back in and start cleaning?
Not until the structure has been cleared, and not without protection. Soot is acidic and airborne, and wiping it with the wrong method drives it deeper into porous surfaces, turning a cleanable wall into a replaceable one.
Rooms that did not burn still smell. Why?
Smoke travels farther than flame. It follows air movement through HVAC runs, wall cavities and door gaps, and it settles in rooms that never saw fire. Those rooms usually need cleaning and deodorizing too.
How long does fire restoration take?
Cleanup and deodorizing typically run one to three weeks depending on the size of the loss. Reconstruction depends on scope and permits. You get a schedule after the walkthrough, not a guess on the phone.
Do I have to use my insurer’s preferred contractor?
No. In Michigan you choose who restores your property. We work with every major carrier and handle the documentation either way.
