What happens first?
Emergency tarping and board-up. Getting a weather seal on the roof or a broken opening stops the loss from growing every hour the forecast holds.
There is water inside. What now?
It is treated as a water loss: extraction, then structural drying with air movers and dehumidifiers, usually three to five days, monitored daily until materials read dry.
What should I photograph?
Everything, before you move anything. Wide shots of each elevation, close-ups of impact points, interior staining, and the contents that were damaged. That set is what an adjuster builds the scope from.
Is storm damage covered?
Wind, hail and falling-tree damage are typically covered perils, and resulting interior water damage usually follows. Flood from rising water is a separate policy. We document it so the distinction is clear.
Who does the rebuild?

Storm damage questions we hear every day
Should I tarp the roof myself?
Only if it is genuinely safe, which after a storm it usually is not. Wet decking, hidden structural damage and live lines make roof work the most dangerous part of a storm response. We tarp as an emergency service, day or night.
My roof looks fine but the ceiling is stained. Why?
Wind-lifted shingles and displaced flashing let water in without leaving obvious damage from the ground. In winter, ice dams do the same thing by forcing meltwater back under the shingles. Both show up as interior staining first.
Do I need to wait for the adjuster before we start?
No. Emergency mitigation to prevent further damage is expected of you under most policies. We document the pre-mitigation condition thoroughly so nothing is lost by acting fast.
What about trees on the structure?
We coordinate removal and then handle the structural repair, so one team owns the sequence from the trunk on the roof to the finished ceiling inside.
